Peter Roget - The persistence of vision with regard to moving objects.

Magic Lantern - 17th Century was the beginning of animation
                          - They also had shows that were people telling stories

Eadweard Muybridge - In 1873 he used sequential photography to show movement, like the jumping man

Clip- Humorous Phases Of Funny Faces By Stuart Blackten - Made in 1906 it was the first real animation film.

Clip- Winsor McCay - Made in 1911, he also was famous for his 'Little Nemo' for a magazine that he did on rice paper, which is like tracing paper.
